Richard Wood Taylor, 79, of Upton, MA, died Sunday, May 14, 2017. He was the husband of the late Patricia Eleanor (Smith) Taylor. He was born in Milford, MA, son of the late Robert and Viola (Hensel) Taylor.

Richard was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He first worked as a machinist at the former Draper Corporation in Hopedale, MA. He then worked for Canusa in Milford, MA, and for Gerrity Lumber in Hopedale, MA.

He enjoyed cooking, watching sports, old westerns and war movies, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Richard is survived by four children: Janine Farrar and her husband George of Charlton, MA; Kyle Taylor and his wife Kit of Watsonville, CA; Danielle Gain and her husband Bill of Mendon, MA; Shannon Taylor of Sterling, MA; six grandchildren: Paul Farrar, Monique Farrar, Joshua Taylor, Matthew Taylor, Julie Watson, and Benjamin Watson; two great grandchildren; and five siblings: Dorothy Look, Ann Cancellieri, Nancy Ross, Ronald Taylor, and Elaine Bentley. He was predeceased by his son Mark Taylor, and by two siblings: Robert Taylor, Jr., and Jean Grey.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the James E. Kellett and Son Funeral Home, 21 West St., Milford, MA. Calling hours are Saturday, May 20, 2017, from 9:00–10:30 a.m., followed by a service at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. A private burial will commence at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Taylor’s memory to Dana Farber Cancer Research, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.

My condolences to Janine and her extended family. I di not have the pleasure of know Richard, but from the details he appears to have been an outstanding Father , husband and patriot - another one of of the greatest generation passed on.
